This event is sponsored by One Common Unity, a Washington DC grassroots organization which nurtures sustainable, caring communities through a variety of local and global community arts projects, omni-media programming, and innovative peace education services. The Common Folk Awards Celebration recognizes the stories seldom heard, of those nurturing the world through peace education, arts, and media. This will be a dynamic evening of musical & dance performances, speakers, silent auction, and award presentations.

7:30PM: Reception;
8:30-11 PM: Program


International Award Recipient: Andersen Sa (Favella Rising, Brazil)
National Award Recipient: Climbing PoeTree (Hurricane Season, New York)
Local Award Recipient: TBA

Featuring performances by: Courtney Dowe, Omekongo Dibinga, Mikuak Rai, The Young Women's Drumming Empowerment Project, Olu Butterfly, The Cornell West Theory, Ayanna Gregory, Princess of Controversy, Bomani Armah, Jali-D, Kuku, Monica McIntyre, and Brother Ah.
