DANCE-OBAMA is one of several events that are being called The Pulse of Peace and taking place in several cities across the USA during Inauguration Week. The Washington DC event takes place at the DC Peace Mural Exhibition in Georgetown, and weather permitting, into the streets and beyond.
Co-Sponsored by Democracy Cell Project and the Peace Mural Foundation, with collaborative support from the American Dance Therapy Association and the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies, this is a performed and participatory dance and music event to celebrate community. We especially invite all those who have found their voices over the past eight years, who have spoken out in support of true democracy and justice, and who wish to invoke the spirit of Martin Luther King, Gandhi, and other peacemakers in the Obama Administration.
Simple food and drinks will be served. There will be a DJ playing energizing inspiring celebratory music as well as African drummers. A highlight will be Dance therapists and educators who will present and draw in participants into a celebration of empowered citizens creating peace through an art form called a "Movement Choir "as we create a community of movers working in coordinated harmony.
Minimum $15 Admission Donation requested for all guests; (Includes admission to see the Peace Mural). Proceeds to benefit the Peace Mural Foundation to help cover costs of the Washington DC Peace Mural Exhibition. This event is open to all ages, with no particular dress code, though you will want to be comfortable! To make reservations, please make your ticket “donation” at Democracy Cell Project by clicking the "DONATE" button on the top left sidebar, and specify “Dance Obama” in your entry.

A beautiful example of how the human spirit heals itself. The mural brought out the best in me, filling my senses with possibilities of self-expression and hope for the future.
