Event Description

For the Sake of our kids, we need to have this conversation. The word "peace" by itself, often falls flat, lacking concreteness. Would we know peace if we saw it? What does it look like in the context of our social institutions?

This afternoon the Peace Mural Foundation, with support from the Florida Coalition for Peace and Justice, will host an ongoing dialogue with visitors to the DC Peace Mural Exhibition. This is "open space" where visitors are free to enter and leave the conversation as they feel. Coffee, Tea and snacks will be available. This is free event, but we do encourage all visitors to leave a contribution in the Donation Box in the exhibition entranceway.

Be a part of the conversation! Our focus will be to identify the emerging culture of peace in our midst. When hope is renewed as we celebrate the inauguration of Barack Obama, this is a conversation to unpack the positive that is emerging in our midst.

Plan to join us at the Peace Mural today as we not only visualize what a culture of peace looks like, but as we also identify where we see it unfolding within our local communities. Our hope is that the conversation inspires and empowers us through the dynamics of civic discourse to scrutinize and clarify our thinking and our creative imagination. We will identify best practices that point to our renewed action on the road to building a culture of peace. ... For the sake of our kids and grandkids, please join us!

Admission to this event is included in the $15 Donation/Admission to see the Peace Mural on this day. ($5 Students)

Dialogue Facilitator: Dr. John W. Frank
President, Peace Mural Foundation, Inc.

I’m always frustrated when I hear people refer to and about “illegal aliens” with the attitude that they are somehow different in their hopes and desires from those of us born here. Can we not show compassion for people who risk so much for freedom and hope only to have what we by the luck of our birth? Freedom isn’t a commodity that is diminished when offered-it only becomes stronger in its resolve to prevail.  –Beverley Cardona
